Do you have any credit history?

If you have no credit history but are over the age of 18 and have a fixed address then there is still a good chance that you will be approved by one of the major networks for a new contract.

If you have credit history and do not know why you have failed a credit check then you need to do a credit check on yourself to work out the reason as it could be something as simple as a spelling mistake or minor error with the information provided. By applying for a high end mobile contract for 24 months with the latest phone could mean a decline as from the data we have more applications get declined for the most expensive phones than cheaper alternatives. Newer high cost phones reduce the profit margin for mobile phone networks and so the risk is increased because if the contract is not honoured the mobile network will lose out to a greater degree.

- Apply for a mid range handset on a fair tariff for 18 months for the best chance of approval

Apply for mobile networks that are more willing to accept no credit history customers. Orange and T-Mobile are considerate of even customers with bad credit but may ask for a security deposit before allowing the phone to be dispatched.

- Apply with T-Mobile, Orange or Three for best chance of approval

Apply for a sim only contract either 30 day or 12 month. There is a good reason for getting a sim only deal other than you get alot more minutes, texts and internet access than a regular contract – As there is no phone there is alot less risk to the mobile phone network and so greater chance of approval. After several months it may be possible to upgrade to a full mobile contract which will be much more cost effective than pay as you go.

There are several alternatives to no credit check mobiles and these options should be explored before opting for companies who offer no credit check when buying a mobile phone.

Advantages of No Credit Check Mobile Phones:

- Good acceptance for people with bad/no credit history
- Ability to buy quickly without fuss

- Costly – Much more expensive than traditional pay monthly mobile phones
- Limited choice of handsets
- Limited networks  – Lower minutes and text allowance
- Often less reputable companies who offer them

Guide for getting a mobile contract if you have no credit history:

1/ Check your credit score – It may throw up reasons why you are not getting accepted for a traditional mobile contract.
2/ Apply for a mobile contract with a low price monthly handset or even better a sim only contract (To see if you can get approved)
3/ Be prepared to have a lower monthly bill and pay whats called a security deposit when you apply direct with a mobile phone network. This will give you the best chance of approval and once you have been approved you should have no trouble upgrading after the initial term of the contract.

Offering a mobile phone to someone without having a credit check is not something companies want to do anymore mainly because of the high price tag of most new mobiles..often costing £400-500 a throw. - Opt for a sim only contract – Where you get a simcard with a monthly  allowance. The reason we say to take up a sim only contract is there is less risk to the company providing it whilst allowing you the customer to build up your credit rating. We suggest trying for a T Mobile Sim Only Contract as from research we have found they have a slightly higher approval rate.

- Apply with a mobile phone network – If you apply with a mobile phone network they have the power to accept or decline you. A mobile retailer like phones 4u or carphonewarehouse has no say, if you get declined they can not offer you a compromise such as a security deposit to secure the contract.

- Don’t apply for mobiles with gifts – Adding free gifts or laptops onto your mobile contract will add to the likelyhood that you will get declined. Apply for sim only or if you have an urgent need for a new phone something not too flashy as you will have a better chance of approval.

- No credit history with banks or mobile networks

- Name not on the electoral roll

- Previous bad debt with mobile networks

For most part there is no cheap way to get a mobile phone with no credit check and so if you solve the problems above you will more than likely be approved when you are credit checked.
